They say you should never meet your heroes (and they’re probably right). Though in some cases, things pan out differently. I had an encounter with minor automotive royalty recently and was able to shoot a roll of PanF to mark the occasion. Instead of the usual static shots we see of a vehicle, I wanted to focus more on the finer aspects of what makes the BMW Z8 truly special in my eyes.

Conspicuous Absence

A friend of ours lost a brief battle with cancer this week. She left behind a husband and a 10-year old daughter who skates with Gracie. The gravity of their situation is magnified by how easy it is to put myself in his shoes, how much I take for granted. I’ve found myself in quiet tears a few times this week. But not for her, no longer in pain. A mother is such a huge part and influence on a daughter, it’s hard to imagine that vacancy. To even attempt to fill the void as a grieving father is inconceivable

Ottawa 2017

Ah, our nation’s capital! As a learning holiday, our small family (plus a special guest!) ventured to Ottawa for five days in October. It was right on that glorious cusp for fall creeping into early winter, where the daytime sunshine was welcome over the brisk windy evenings. Join us!

My work takes me out on the water occasionally. It’s a nice change of pace from the usual industrial and commercial sites, but I don’t have a normal office job anyhow. When I get on a launch and travel an hour outside the harbour, it’s like I’m in a different world, and for all intents and purposes I really am. A vessel’s place of registry makes it part of that territory, and it’s always interesting to meet the people aboard. Officers and crews from all over the globe take to the sea to earn a living for up to six months at a time, but they all seem to be hardworking and friendly.
